Fashion, Design, Art as Tools for Creating Equitable World

SDG 17

About the Subsection

To build a just world, you need to know what each nation lives by, what it values and loves, what accompanies it in its beginnings and achievements. Things and interiors, everyday or ceremonial, will tell much more about culture of people than digest information reports. A special place here belongs to fashion, which is one of the tools for asserting the importance of its national culture and enriching itself through creative borrowing from others.

Clothing and accessories from ancient times to nowadays play an important role as holders and retransmitters of information about a personality. The combination of fabrics, colors, ornaments, cut features and other components of costume are the signs by which the identity of individual is determined and nature of the dialogue is planned.

Images of different objects, interiors, and cultural landscapes are equally significant.

The clothes of African people keep the imprint of both ancient times, when people lived in harmony with nature, and experience of interaction with representatives of different culture in modern technological conditions. African fashion is becoming subject of increased and excited attention of designers from various countries including Russia.

Cooperation in fashion, design, art joins in cooperation in production, ecology, science.

Thanks to such cooperation African people have great opportunity to tell about their unique culture to different confessions all over the world and get technological and cultural achievements of other progressive and vibrant countries that will significantly improve quality of life.
