About the Conference

The Conference is expected to host over 1,500 participants.

The Conference is aimed at discussing the priority issues of our time, problems and challenges, possible trends and directions for Africa’s development by the expert and youth scientific community, as well as raising awareness of the global sustainable development goals of mankind.

The central focus of the conference is the 17 sustainable development goals of the African region until 2030.

RUDN University will be a working platform to exchange experience among young researchers, company leaders, representatives of government authorities and experts in sustainable development, environmental, social and corporate governance. Specialists will share their knowledge and experience to implement research, academic and socially significant projects to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. In 2023, the regional focus of the Conference is the African countries.

What is sustainable development?

It suggests that the quality of human life should be improved, and the negative impact on the environment should be minimized. The society’s demand for serious changes towards sustainability is increasing every year.

In 2015, the UN General Assembly developed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The final document of the General Assembly “Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” contains 17 global goals.

Achievements of the first conference
on 17 SDGs hosted by RUDN University

The key status of the 2022 conference is confirmed by the level of speakers, geographical coverage and number of participants.

In 2022, more than 1,000 students and young researchers from 60 countries of the world participated in the conference. They discussed improving the quality of human life in terms of economic, socio-political and environmental sectors and key approaches to minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

The conference focused on all 17 sustainable development goals, which required developing a clear structure of thematic sessions, concerted efforts of moderators and organizers. The issues were analyzed not only at the global, but also at the regional and local levels. The participants were able to discuss the priority issues of our time, problems and challenges, trends and directions for the development of the world countries, human civilization as a whole. The working platform created on the sidelines of the conference continued to function: in 2023, the key focus is on the sustainable development of the African region.
